14. Turner Lane, Silsden, Kildwick, Farnley, Cononley, Lothersdale, Crosshills, Kildwick, Leeds Liverpool Canal, Silsden, Brunthwaite

24.8 miles, 3869 feet of ascent (39.8 km, 1179.0 metres of ascent)

Very much a moorside ride crossing the Pennine Way in Lothersdale, with a long descent into Crosshills, and then returning via the Leeds Liverpool canal from Kildwick to Silsden and then via Brunthwaite to pick up the return route down Turner Lane into Addingham.

Started by riding up the village and then taking Silsden Road to the roundabout on the bypass. warning Go straight across the roundabout and take the first left up Turner Lane to the cross roads at the top, turning right, and then following this road all the way down Brownbank Lane to the warning crossroads at the junction with the A6034 just outside Silsden. Go straight over the crossroads and follow North Street down into Silsden, passing the Co-op on the right, and then turning right onto Bradley Road at The Tapping Foot Irish Bar.

Cycle up Bradley Road until arriving at a left turn onto Hole Lane. Continue on Hole Lane to a T-junction with New Lane, take a left and follow New Lane downhill to the T-junction. At the T-junction turn right and follow the road past Kildwick Hall on the right and through Farnhill to the junction with the A629. warning Very carefully cross the busy A629 and continue into Cononley.

In Cononley there are 2 pubs, The Railway Inn and the New Inn, both on the right. Just past the Cononley Village Institute turn left up Netherghyll Lane. Climb up the hill to the T-junction with Stockshott Lane and then turn left sign posted Lothersdale. Continue to a crossroads going straight across to follow the road down into Lothersdale.

Cycle through the village passing the Hare and Hounds pub and then take the next left, Side Gate, for a long climb over Hawshaw Moor before turning left on to Tom Lane. Continue to the cross roads and turn left up Cowling Hill Lane. Follow this road, with Cowling in the valley to the right, all the way down to the T-junction with the Colne Road A6068. warning Turn left onto the A6068 and follow this very busy road through Cross Hills turning left onto Station Road B6172. At the roundabout take the second exit into Kildwick and then the second right at the White Lion pub onto Priest Bank Road.

At the bridge over the Leeds Liverpool canal turn right onto the tow path. Continue following the towpath from Kildwick to Silsden (warning note the towpath surface to Silsden is a track through grass which can get quite muddy and does have quite a few tree routes making the surface uneven and not really suitable for road or touring bikes). Continue on the towpath straight through Silsden until reaching a bridge over the canal.

Cross this bridge and ride up the lane to a T-junction, turning left onto Howden Road, and continuing to the cemetry taking a right turn up Hawber Lane. Then take the first right up Brunthwaite Lane to cycle through Brunthwaite and up a long hill to Lightbank Lane. Follow Lightbank Lane all the way to a T-junction, turning right, and then next left at Turner Lane. warning  At the T-junction with the A6034 turn right and then straight across the roundabout for the descent into Addingham.
