11. Turner Lane, Silsden, Bradley, Leeds Liverpool Canal, Skipton, Embsay, Halton East, Bolton Abbey
18.9 miles, 2613 feet of ascent (30.5 km, 796.7 metres of ascent)
A ride over Addingham Moorside, down through Silsden, up over Kildwick Moor to Bradley, then along the Leeds Liverpool Canal to Skipton, before returning to Addingham via Embsay, Halton East and Bolton Abbey.
Started by riding up the village and then taking Silsden Road to the roundabout on the bypass. Go straight across the roundabout and take the first left up Turner Lane to the cross roads at the top, turning right, and then following this road all the way down Brownbank Lane to the crossroads at the junction with the A6034 just outside Silsden. Go straight over the crossroads and follow North Street down into Silsden, passing the Co-op on the right, and then turning right onto Bradley Road at the Butchers Arms.
Cycle up Bradley Road until arriving at a left turn onto Hole Lane. Continue on Hole Lane to a T-junction with Dennis Lane, take a right and then immediately left onto Coate's Lane. Follow this road all the way down into Bradley, where at a T-junction, turn right into Bradley. Reaching Bradley Methodist Church on the right turn left onto Ing's Lane and follow this road all the way to the Leeds Liverpool Canal, crossing the bridge and turning right onto the tow path.
Follow the tow path all the way into the centre of Skipton. Here you will find, as expected, many cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. After passing under a road bridge, with the Aagrah Restaurant on the opposite side of the canal and just before the marina, turn left onto Belmont Wharf. Go to the T-junction and turn left over the bridge and immediately turn left into Coach Street. Pass Skipton Marina on the Leeds/Liverpool canal, and onto a mini-roundabout at the junction with Water Street. Turn right here and also right at the next T-junction and continue to the roundabout at the top of the High Street. Take the first exit here past Skipton Castle on the left and cycle up the hill to take the left turn to Embsay.
Follow the road through Embsay past the Cavendish Arms and Embsay Steam Railway Station on the right. At the junction with Shires Lane turn right and cycle past Embsay Cricket ground, before turning right again onto Low Lane. Follow this road to Halton East. Before reaching there you pass Billy Bob's Ice Cream parlour on the left (pop in for a delicious ice cream or breakfast/lunch). Follow the road up with a steady climb through Halton East to follow a gated road over the hill and back down to Bolton Abbey. On the way down passing Hesketh Farm Park on the right.
Turn right at the bottom of the hill to follow the road back to Addingham (note this road can be very busy on weekends, bank and summer holidays).
